Finally Photographed a wolf!

Today was the day I finally got to photograph a wolf!

It was pretty chilly this morning when I set out with Kerrie at 7:30am. Dressed head to toe in camouflage, I set out in hopes of finally finding a wolf, that I could photograph! The roads were brutal and covered in snow, BUT, that just meant that the only other people I was going to see on the road was Park Wardens or other photographers. Just the way I like it! After thinking that my chances were looking bleak, it looked up! I got a call from a friend who was also out there for photos and he told me that he had just seen a wolf and I should head back that way.... which is exactly what I did.
As soon as I got to where it was all happening.... there it was. A wolf sitting in a field, sizing up 3 bull elk. The elk didn't seem to phased by the wolf, but I know the wolf was thinking it would be a decent meal to get one! We watched for awhile as the wolf kept getting closer and closer, until it was right in front of an elk. After realizing it probably didn't stand a chance, it moved on and went around the field and laid down where it started to catch some sleep. It came up crossed the road and moved along the side for quite awhile. Stopping every once and awhile I was able to get some photos before it would disappear into the woods again.
All in all, it was a pretty amazing experience. It was just what I needed! I've been waiting ages for that opportunity! It definitely helped reignite the spark of looking for them and I realize how much I love seeing such an amazing predator!
